Birdmen of Alcatraz

Recently I bought and painted some Avian birdmen from C-P Models Miniatures. Actually I wasn't supposed to buy anything new this year (used miniatures are ok though), but when I saw these I just had to buy them.

I don't know if they are actually old-school, but they certainly are different than most stuff released these days.

My inspiration for the paint scheme comes from various cartoon vultures.

Here they are:

On the prowl...

There is five different poses in total.

Size comparison with Phagon Beastman and RTB01 Space Marine.

They are pretty big miniatures, almost 45mm to the top of their heads. There is only five different poses, but the models come with seperate heads and so you can buy more models and change the heads for more combinations, if you like.

I think they are pretty nice models and  the price can't really be beat! One model £1.80 or all five for £8.00 and the service from C-P Models is fast and reliable.

World Eater Traitor Marines

Since my friend Torben has just released his generic sci-fi rulesystem called Fireteam Andromeda, I decided to paint up some Imperial Troopers to go with the setting.

I had these old Bob Naismith Marines lying around and I thought they would be perfect for the job. But as I was painting the first one I soon realised that they were World Eater Marines in their Pre-Heresy colour scheme.

So came to be my first traitor Marines (Which still will go well as Imperial Troopers for Fireteam Andromeda too).

Pretty awesome models!

The Fireteam Andromeda rules are made for 15mm gaming, but I have been told there is rules for 28mm too, so hopefully my Imperial World Eater Troopers will see some action still.

If you want to know more about Fireteam Andromeda you should check out the Terminus Nebula blog, which also includes lot of old-school goodness.

Tyranid Hunter-Slayers

Last month I was so lucky to get some ancient Tyranids cheap on ebay. Ten Hunter-Slayers for £1.20. I actually only found them because I was looking for some Zoats. This perticular seller had some Zoats for sale and when I won that auction I decided to bid on some of his other auctions too and so I also won the Hunter-Slayers.

The old Tyranids are a great alien race for 40K or could probably be used with succes in many other settings and skirmish games. I have no idea what I will end up useing these for, but they are awesome classic miniatures and I could not resist painting them for very long.

Here they are:

Hunter-Slayers swarming forth...

Blood Angel marines get some punishment...

You might notice there is only eight in the pictures and earlier I wrote that I had won ten. Well two of them was already painted and are right now in the proces of being stripped. Hopefully they will join the brood in the near future.
